Cabinet SecretaryHon. Aden Bare Duale, EGH, MP was born on June 15, 1969 in Garissa County, in Kenya's North Eastern region. He completed his early education at Garissa Primary School and Garissa High School before attending Moi Forces Academy in Nairobi, and went on to earn a Bachelor of Education in Economics and History from Moi University in 1992. He began his political career in 2007 as the Member of Parliament for Dujis Constituency, later co-founding the United Republican Party and winning re-election as MP for Garissa Township in 2013 and 2017. He served as Majority Leader in the National Assembly from 2013 to 2020, sponsoring more than 100 government bills, and was appointed Cabinet Secretary for Defence in October 2022, a post he held until July 2024. In March 2025, President William Ruto appointed him Cabinet Secretary for Health, where he has championed the transformation of Kenya's healthcare system, driving the rollout of Universal Health Coverage anchored on four major statutes, namely the Social Health Insurance Act, the Digital Health Act, the Primary Health Care Act and the Facility Improvement Financing Act.
